Halle Berry’s Pure Orchid is a floral explosion

The gravy train rolls on for celebrity scents, and the next to join the firing line is Pure Orchid by Halle Berry. It’s Halle’s second scent and she’s veered away from the dime a dozen sugary explosion the likes of Paris Hilton and Britney Spears are so fond of, and opted instead for a rather more adult concoction.
“Pure Orchid feels like a natural extension of my first fragrance and it’s a welcomed next step in my relationship with Coty,” Berry said to WWD. “The new fragrance allowed me another opportunity to create a scent that is reflective of who I am and in doing so I’m able to offer the consumer something a bit different as I move into my second year with Coty.”
The new scent uses a mixture of high quality ingredients to replicate the tones of a blooming flower, and the bottle is a glorious shade of lavender tha reflects the colour of orchids in full bloom.
Pure Orchid has top notes of crisp Italian lemon, papaya nectar fizz and jungle cactus flower; with blackberry creme concentré and star anise. It provides the wearer with an explosion of florals, so you’d almost feel like you were walking through a sunlit meadow. Halle was directly involved in the manufacturing process and was heavily consulted at every stage.
It’s encouraging to see celebrities really get behind their creations, as it should hopefully lead to higher end products for the consumers. I’m very intrigued by the combination of top notes and middle notes, as star anise is an unusual choice and should give the scent a nice kick. The papya nectar fizz is another pleasant addition as this will settle on the skin, with an immediate tangy scent, which will then evolve into a deeper olfactory experience as it gets heated by the skin.
