The naturally redheaded actress showed off herself as a brunette at the Brit Awards this year, looking sexier than she has in the past months. After years of sporting a light-colored mane, Lindsay decided to change her look, and adopt a healthier lifestyle to boot.

When you switch your hair colour there are certain tips you need to remember in order to make sure that your new hair fits in with your makeup look. LiLo may have a team of artists making sure she is perfectly presented, but as we’re not blessed with that luxury here are a few important tips to remember.

Change your foundation!

With fairer hair you’ll have been able to get away with a lot of light toned foundations, but dark hair can make your skin look washed out so try and go for a shade that’s one or two levels above your usual, for a healthy look. You can experiment with colour

Darker hair means you now have access to a wider range of palettes than ever before. Violet may have made you look washed out as a blonde but as a brunette it will be striking and exciting. We love GOSH eyeshadows as they’re highly pigmented and provide great coverage.

Love that lippie

When you have fair hair, red lipstick tends to be worn for evenings out or when you have an event. darker hair makes this colour wearable for daily life, as the contrast isn’t as striking, so you can subtly vamp it up. We love the Bourjois Rouge Lipstick as it gives great coverage in a lovely hue.

I’m a big fan of felt tip eyeliners as I find they allow you to get really precise thick lines, that are long lasting and create a very glamorous look. The Calligraphy eyeliner is waterproof and also contains a selection of antioxidant ingredients such as chamomile and perilla to soothe the eye area as well as define it.

Hourglass Prodigy Lipgloss

There are many ways to apply makeup to the face- fingers, sponges and brushes, but none of those have ever given me the same airbrush like effect produced by using the Beautyblender. As I mentioned in one of my other articles, I’ve recently been testing some Barry M nail polishes. This fabulously daring colour is Barry M ‘Blue Glitter’ and it is one of my new favourite nail polish shades!

As soon as I saw the colour it reminded me of the new OPI range of Alice In Wonderland nail polishes as they have a similar ‘Absolutely Alice’ in their set. This one by Barry M however is much cheaper, and a really fun shade of electric blue with plenty of sparkle!

Priced at around £2.95 per pot (depending on where you purchase them) Barry M nail paints are stylish, budget friendly and come in a great selection of colours. This ‘Blue Glitter’ colour takes a few coats before it really looks perfect but it is definitely worth it for the end result.

I applied a coat of Barry M all in one basecoat, top coat and nail hardener first, then 3 coats of the Blue Glitter to get it looking evenly coated. When dry I finished with the all in one base coat/top coat product and left to dry (which admittedly took a while due to the amount of layers!) leave yourself plenty of time if you’re going to try this look at home because although the nail paint is really fast drying you don’t want to go to all that effort only to smudge them in a rush at the last hurdle.

I have more Barry M nail paints to try, so look out for more reviews soon on some perfect springtime colours!
