It seems like Summer is coming to an end, so I’m clinging to my sweet smelling perfumes that remind me of hot weather in a bid to keep it alive! One that I’ve been using this week is Kylie Minogue Pink Sparkle.

Pink Sparkle is the follow up to Kylie’s ‘Darling’ fragrances. Previous connotations of that include the original Kylie Minogue Darling, Kylie Minogue Sweet Darling and Kylie Minogue Sexy Darling.

Pink Sparkle is even more feminine than the others (believe it or not!) with heart notes of champagne, Arabian jasmine, Vanilla, Peach and Pink Grapefruit alongside lily of the valley and heavenly musk undertones.

It is perfect as an everyday perfume that you can wear without risk of it being too ‘heavy’ or overpowering. It would work well as a fragrance for romantic dates, even in the colder months ahead.

Many Brits spend a large portion of their day staring at their computer screen-which is bad news for their eye health. Here are some ways to reduce your eye strain!The College of Optometrists has top tips to keep your eyes healthy in front of a screen:

Make sure that if you need spectacles to look at a screen, you wear them!

Blink regularly. When focusing on a screen your reflexes will slow down, tear production will reduce, and you will blink less, causing dry and uncomfortable eyes.

Remember the 20-20-20 rule: every 20 minutes, look 20 feet away for 20 seconds to give your eye muscles a break and help increase the rate of blinking.

Keep the distance of the monitor from your eyes between 16 to 30 inches. Most people find a distance of 20 to 26 inches comfortable.

Make sure that the top of the monitor is at a level at or slightly below your horizontal eye level.
Tilt the top of the monitor away from you at a 10- to 20-degree angle. This will enable you to create an optimum viewing angle.

Keep your screen free of dust and fingerprints.

Try and position you monitor so that you do not get distracting reflections (e.g. from a window)
Use an adjustable chair that enables you to sit at a proper angle and distance from your computer monitor screen.

Use a character size that is visible. The character size is an important factor since it determines the distance at which you prefer to view the monitor.

Make sure your workstation is set up comfortably; avoid poor posture which can lead to neck, back, arm or other aches.

The latest OPI range draws inspiration from the ski slopes. With aptly named nail varnishes and cute, cool colours for Autumn/Winter they are set to be a big hit. Naturally we’ve managed to get our hands on a few of the best from the range and have put them to the test. Keep reading after the jump to see what we thought of OPI ‘Ski Teal We Drop’

I love the fact that we’re almost back in winter and that darker, more gothic shades are back in fashion. Winter fashion is my absolute favourite with all the cozy oversized jumpers, boots and dark makeup and nail polish shades.

Ski Teal We Drop by O.P.I is one of those shades that you will probably either love or hate. I’ve heard that this shade has been incredibly popular with bloggers and media in the UK but I’ll ‘fess up here and admit that I’m not actually a massive fan of Teal or blues in general.

Having said that, what I do love about this nail polish is that it is very dark, it’s not light and girly and is perfect for adding just a splash of colour to your nails without it being too bold or vibrant. It goes on easily and I found myself questioning if it even needed two coats after the first application (it looked almost perfect) but decided to do just a quick touch up to get the colour you see on my nails below. Bear in mind that my camera flash is on so the shade does appear ever so slightly lighter than it does in natural daylight.

Hard Candy has sold a great eye primer for many years now. Really, you ask? How do you get this great primer and where do you find it. The secret is out- up till now it was only available when you bought the In The Shadows collection, but now it will be available to many more people.

Shadows that may have looked bright in the palette don’t always look good on the skin, but with this primer they will look true to life and give your skin a great boost.

It’s a really handy aid for anyone who likes bold and bright eyeshadows shades, and will also make sure your more muted shades stay on all day. How can you resist this? They say they’ll be doing this for a short time only, but I reckon if the trial goes well, they might just decide to bring this into full time production, well we can hope so anyways. Fingers crossed!

The lovely Bristolian (Bristol-girl?) Josie just won Big Brother 10 and had the whole nation smiling at her ‘Randy mare’ comments and love for the feisty Australian John (though she can do so much better). We were thrilled at her win, but we’re already speculating about what will be next for our lass from oop North, and we think a perfume should be on the cards. Why? Let me tell you why…

For one thing, this was THE FINAL BIG BROTHER EVER!  never again will fame hungry contestants grace our screens for 24 hours and counting (well, not as we know it anyway. Maybe X Factor will go all scary and CCTVish?). Celebrate/ Remember this ten year phase of out lives with a scent that encapsulates everything that’s fun and friendly about the show.

TWO: Josie would smell nice. Like, really NICE. Forget about cloying celeb scents from the likes of Paris Hilton and Avril Lavigne, Josie would smell honest, down to earth and charming. She’s be the scent you’d want your girlfriend to meet your mother in, a familiar smell like bread baking and cookies in the morning and it would give you a sense of peace and relaxation. Yum!

THREE: It would mean the inevitable Big Brother fragrance would benefit the lovely Josie, rather than the coffer of Channel 4. It’s pretty much guaranteed they’ll try and flog us something off the back of the series (extra long DVD, furniture from house??) so why not something that benefits the girl that we’ve learned to love these last few months. Yay team Josie!

The Notting Hill Carnival is the largest street festival in Europe and originated in 1964 as a way for Afro-Caribbean communities to celebrate their own cultures and traditions. Taking place every August Bank Holiday weekend in the streets of London W11, the Notting Hill Carnival is an amazing array of sounds, colourful sights and social solidarity

Notting Hill Carnival history

At the roots of the Notting Hill Carnival are the Caribbean carnivals of the early 19th century – a particularly strong tradition in Trinidad – which were all about celebrating the abolition of slavery and the slave trade. The very first carnival was an attempt to showcase the steel band musicians who played in the Earls Court of London every Weekend. When the bands paraded through the streets of Notting Hill, they drew black residents out on to the streets, reminding them of the Caribbean homes they had left behind.

It has just been announced that one of the UK’s favourite celebrity hairstylists, Leo Bancroft is joining ITV’s This Morning team as one of their resident hair experts.  Leo will be joining fashion guru Jason Gardiner, and together they will form a formidable makeover team.

As well as being the British public’s favourite stylist, he is also a success within the professional hair industry having been awarded with Southern Hairdresser of the Year at the British Hairdressing Awards in 2009.  Winning this prestigious award was an incredible achievement and Leo won this title with a collection of contemporary beautiful images that grace the pages of magazines all over the world.
