It’s New Years Eve and everyone’s thoughts are turning towards the usual ‘New Years Resolutions’ and planning out various changes for the year ahead, thinking about how we’re going to finally stick to that diet and how to make sure that 2010 is bigger and better than 2009. Rather than cover the standard resolutions you’ve all heard talked about a million times before, we at Beauty Now thought we’d focus more on the kind of beauty related resolutions you can make this year for an ultra glam 2010. The era of WAG’s is coming to an end, as 2010 will all be about empowered women who create a name for themselves separate to their spouses. Whilst Coleen may have achieved fame on her husbands coat-tails, her natural down to earth beauty and no nonsense approach to life has made her a firm favourite with women nationwide.
She regularly appears on TV as a ‘fashion guru’ (read: shopaholic) has penned an autobiography and has released a selection of scents that have been fairly well received by ten to fifteen year olds. However I wasn’t aware till recently that she’d also branched out into cosmetics, as you can now choose to decorate your eyes, lips and cheek a’la Mrs Rooney. But are they any good? (more…)

Christmas cometh but once a year, but a bad gift can have you in the doghouse for a seriously long time. There seems to be some misconception that women are hard to shop for- and whilst this may be the case if you’re going the jewellery or undies route (at your peril), in the beautysphere we’re pretty easy to please.
Make sure you stay away from anything that features the words ‘Slimming’, ‘Firming’, or ‘Detoxifying’, because unless you’re her best friend that won’t go down well. As for gifts think high quality products that will last, and sneaky indulgent treats to make your loved one smile. Here’s the five things we’d be happy to find under our tree. (more…)

There are many great products out there, but sometimes we become so used to mainstream brands that we forget all about the niche products that exist. Thankfully the Internet is a faithful friend in keeping us up to date with the latest in skincare and cosmetics, so smaller brands don’t fall by the wayside. Panache Cosmetic stocks an array of product lines that are hard to find in the UK,and each product has been strictly vetted by the site to make sure it’s up to their standards.

There are some scents that evoke certain eras of your life (CKOne and Impulse Vanilla would be amongst mine) but then you have some perfumes that are appropriate whatever your age. Marc Jacobs Daisy, £46.90 is one such scent, as though it has distinctly floral overtones it’s light and subtle enough to wear day in and out, be it summer or Winter. The smell itself is an odd concoction of gardenia violet and jasmine, and at first whiff may appear to strong with those disinclined for floral. (more…)

For those with less than 20/20 vision life becomes and endless cycle of visits to the opticians, check ups and ordering new lenses and glasses. It may not seem like that much money but it definitely adds up, especially when you realize that a contact lens precription and an eye test are two separate fees for you to pay. Add to that the expense of buying contact lenses on the high street and you’re looking at forking out a minimum of £120 a year- and that’s if you opt for monthlies rather than daily lenses.
PostOptics is an online service that offers the consumer lenses at a seriously reduced price, due to the fact that they lack the overheads of a high street shop. As they don’t need to rent space or employ staff to greet you with, they can pass this saving onto you with low cost lenses and excellent customer service. (more…)
